You might be surprised to hear this, but yes, pups can safely eat plain or banana bread. However, because breadsticks don’t offer any nutritional value to dogs, we recommend thinking of them as an occasional treat instead of making it a staple diet.

Slices of bread often contain nuts and seeds that can choke your dog’s throat. . Some nuts, such as macadamia nuts, are toxic to dogs. Although some nuts and seeds are considered safe, they can still lead to stomach irritation or pancreatitis due to their high-fat content.

If your bread contains nuts or seeds, make sure to remove them before giving them to your dog.

Is Bread Good for Dogs with Upset Stomachs?

Bread is a bland diet and dog food that can be safely given to dogs with upset stomachs. It’s easy to digest and won’t aggravate the stomach further. Pups with IBS or an upset stomach can feel better if they swallow white pieces of bread. . The bread will absorb the gastric acids that are irritating their stomachs.

In addition, bread is a good source of dietary fiber, which can help to soothe an upset stomach. You should only give your dog a small amount of bread, about one-quarter of a slice. But it is best to ask your veterinarian immediately for guidance on how much bread should be given to your dog.
